◎ What is Wakasano lacquer?
Wakasano lacquer is a craft passed down in the Wakasa region of Fukui Prefecture since the Edo period. Its techniques are highly regarded and designated as a traditional Japanese craft. The beautiful patterns, created by layering and polishing colorful lacquer over shells and eggshells, are its most distinctive feature. Its beauty is sometimes referred to as "gem lacquer."

Tsugaru Vidro began with the production of fishing floats and has evolved into a craft that combines the "blown glass" technique cultivated over many years. It is now well received for the designation of traditional crafts in Aomori Prefecture.
